Nikolay was applying for a Digital Nomad residence permit for himself and his family. The submission speed was critically important as his Portuguese residence permit was expiring in February. We started working on January 7.

1. Document Preparation

Nikolay is a director of his own company in Russia, which made applying for the digital nomad status as an employee an ideal solution. This would also allow him to take advantage of the Beckham tax regime in the future. During the document preparation process, we conducted a call with an expert to explain in detail what documents were required from him and his family, and also organized a consultation with a gestor (tax expert in Spain) on taxation matters.

The list of documents was standard, during the review process we additionally uploaded:

  1. Extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities with apostille and sworn translation.
  2. Criminal record certificate from Portugal with apostille (as the client had a Portuguese residence permit).
  3. Medical insurance for all family members.

2. Submission

Submission date: January 24, 2025

To simplify the process for family members, we submitted their documents without requiring their personal presence in Spain, which allowed them to obtain type D visas through the Spanish Consulate in Moscow.

3. Residence Permit Approval

Approval date: February 10, 2025

Approval for Nikolay and his family members was received without additional requests. Record speed!

4. Submission of Documents for D Visa

Submission date: March 26, 2025

After receiving approval, Nikolay’s family members prepared documents for applying for the Digital Nomad D visa. The visa is issued for one year and can be converted into a full residence permit in Spain.

5. Digital Nomad Visa Approval

Approval date: April 9, 2025

Family members received their passports with visas. All that remained was to fly to Spain and submit fingerprints!
