How does the application process for a startup work?

  • We are recruiting a group of participants (4-5 main applicants)
  • Everyone in the project can choose his/her role according to the preferences
  • We create a high-quality turnkey project: we make a website, write a business plan for 3 years in advance, create brochures, LinkedIn and even advertising videos.
  • We submit a business plan to ENISA, receive approval and, based on it, you receive a residence permit together with your family.
But I don’t have a startup business plan, so how can I apply?

El Relocator will take care of the entire process on a turnkey basis.

We work with an experienced business analyst who specializes in preparing startups based on ENISA’s requirements. He has dozens of real cases under his belt, and an understanding of the criteria for evaluating a future business. We help adapt your idea to the commission's expectations and accompany you until you receive a resident plastic card.

    Startup Residence Permit – Frequently Asked Questions

    The initial startup residence permit is issued for 3 years. It can then be renewed for another 2 years. After 5 years of legal residence in Spain, you can apply for permanent residency, and after 10 years – for citizenship.
    The process can be divided into several stages:
    • Preparing documents and the business project – approximately 1 month (we take care of this entirely).
    • Online application submission – if documents are ready, you can apply within a few days.
    • Waiting for business plan approval – around 2 months.
    • Fingerprint appointment and receiving the residence card – around 2 months.
    Total time: about 4–5 months.
    Yes, you can. The key is to have a valid Schengen visa to return. If not, it’s best to stay in Spain.
    To be eligible, you must:
    • Not be an EU citizen;
    • Be at least 18 years old;
    • Have no criminal record;
    • Enter Spain legally with a Schengen visa.
    Main applicant:
    • Police clearance certificate;
    • Proof of financial means (at least €31,752 in the account);
    • Private Spanish health insurance (valid for 1 year).
    For spouse:
    • Marriage certificate;
    • Police clearance certificate;
    • Additional financial means (+ €11,907);
    • Private Spanish health insurance.
    For a child:
    • Birth certificate;
    • Additional financial means (+ €3,969);
    • Private Spanish health insurance.
    You can only include parents or adult children if you can prove they are financially dependent on you.
    The required amounts:
    • €31,752 for the main applicant;
    • €11,907 for a spouse;
    • €3,969 for each child.
    Additional expenses include:
    • Private health insurance – €600–700 per person;
    • Government fee – €73 + €16 per person;
    • Document translation and apostille – around €40–50 per document.
    Not a problem – we prepare all necessary materials turnkey, including the business plan and strategy.
    Yes. This permit grants the right to work, open an IE (autónomo) registration, and create companies in Spain.
    Yes, but conditions may vary by bank. Some banks require proof of income or a financial history.
    Yes, knowledge of Spanish is not mandatory for this permit.

    Yes, but there are nuances. You must demonstrate the innovative nature of the project.

    For example, if your business has been operating since 2015, you could highlight technological developments: custom software, AI integration, or other digital solutions. Spain is interested in high-potential, innovation-driven projects with economic benefits.

    Keep in mind that traditional businesses like restaurant chains or beauty salons do not meet the criteria. However, if your project involves healthcare, fintech, or logistics, it significantly improves your chances.

    No one monitors the startup’s success directly.

    However, it is critical that all team members register with Spanish social security and open an EI (autónomo) account. This affects future residence permit renewals.

    After 1 year of holding the startup permit, you can convert it to another type of residence permit.
    If rejected, we analyze the reason and help with a new submission. Options include:
    • Filing an appeal, if the refusal can be challenged;
    • Improving the documents and reapplying;
    • Exploring alternative residence permit options.
