When Vasily and his wife decided to move to Spain, they encountered a common myth: “it’s impossible to get a Digital Nomad residence permit with only Russian documents”. But instead of believing rumors, he contacted us.

1. Document Preparation

Vasily works through a Russian individual entrepreneur entity for a Russian LLC, which, according to misconceptions, makes his case not the most obvious for obtaining a Digital Nomad residence permit. However, properly prepared documents allowed the process to proceed smoothly.

We drafted a remote work permission letter directly in Spanish to avoid unnecessary questions from immigration services. Income was converted to euros using the Russian Central Bank rate to meet requirements. Bank statements were prepared in English, and invoices were translated into Spanish using ordinary translation.

Qualification verification was a separate matter. The Russian university economics diploma was without apostille, but at that time, a sworn translation was sufficient. It’s important to note that now, in 2025, an apostille on the diploma/work record extract has become a mandatory criterion; without it, there’s a high probability of additional document requests.

2. Submission

Submission date: October 7, 2024

3. Residence Permit Approval

Approval date: October 24, 2024

Approval for Vasily and his wife was received without additional requests.
