Obtaining a residence permit in Spain for Maksim

I'm very grateful for the help with moving to Spain! My wife and I are very happy that we used their services, as they always answered all our questions throughout the process, and very quickly. We used the all-inclusive package, and I was incredibly glad that I didn't have to worry about preparing documents and submitting them. We were especially happy that we didn't have to deal with document translations on our own.

Maxim reached out to us to apply for a Digital Nomad visa in Spain.

Maxim provides IT services to a UAE company and decided to relocate to Spain with his spouse.

1. Document Preparation

The document list was standard but had several peculiarities:

  1. Contract: prepared an appendix for signing with contract extension until 2028. Without this, the residence permit might have been issued only for the duration of the main contract, requiring annual renewals.
  2. Experience confirmation: included Russian work record book with sworn translation.
  3. Criminal record certificates: obtained from Russia and Turkey, as applicants lived in Turkey for the past year. Turkey issues certificates in both Turkish and Spanish, but there was a risk that UGE (reviewing body) would require sworn translation. The challenge was that Spain has only one sworn translator from Turkish, with waiting times potentially exceeding 10 working days.
  4. UAE company existence certificate: required paying a state fee of $500 (2,000 dirhams). Additionally needed legalization at the Spanish Consulate in Abu Dhabi and sworn translation.

Since the Schengen visa was only for 10 days, precise planning of document preparation was crucial. We obtained all documents for Maxim and paid for sworn translations.

    2. Submission

    Submission date: September 2, 2024

Before entering Spain, we prepared an entry declaration for Maxim to get it stamped at the airport. This was important as he had a connection in another EU country.

    3. Residence Permit Approval

    Approval date: September 22, 2024

Approval for Maxim and his spouse was received without additional requests.
